Day 1: Kathmandu – Surkhet (Overland Drive)

Day 2: Surkhet – Jumla
After breakfast, continue your overland journey into the heart of the Karnali hill region. By evening, arrive in Jumla, a historic mountain town known for its apple orchards, ancient culture, and cool alpine climate.

Day 3: Jumla – Rara Lake
Today’s drive takes you toward one of Nepal’s most treasured natural wonders. Travel through the scenic Sinja Valley, once the capital of the ancient Khasa Kingdom, before entering Rara National Park. As you approach, the deep-blue waters of Rara Lake (2,990 m) come into view, surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped peaks. Enjoy a peaceful evening walk along the lakeshore, soaking in the serene atmosphere.

Day 4: Rara Lake Exploration – Jumla
Wake up early to experience sunrise at Rara Lake, when the surrounding mountains reflect beautifully on the calm water. Take a leisurely walk around the lake or enjoy a short hike to Murma Top, one of the best viewpoints in the area. After spending the morning at the lake, drive back to Jumla in the afternoon.

Day 5: Jumla – Surkhet
Begin the return journey south through the remote hill districts of western Nepal. This long but scenic drive passes through isolated villages, deep river gorges, and forested hills, offering a true sense of Nepal’s untouched countryside. Arrive in Surkhet by evening and relax after a rewarding day on the road.

Day 6: Surkhet – Bardia National Park (via Karnali Suspension Bridge)
Descend from the hills into the lowland Terai as you drive toward Bardia National Park, Nepal’s largest and least disturbed national park. En route, stop to visit the impressive Karnali Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the country, spanning the mighty Karnali River. Continue to Bardia and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by nature.
